How To Repair Vinyl Siding That Has Come Loose

For those of us that alive in a vinyl sided house it is something we all  hope that will never happen, only it does happen more than often than we like. It could exist a poor install, or peradventure you had a hard wind storm. That dreaded piece of siding coming loose and hanging there unattached from the bottom board. How are we gonna set up this?

You should feel it click in.  Double cheque you pushed up on all the crimps by looking downwardly the line of the board. You will be able to encounter if there is a bump from a missed crimp. After taking this step and re-clicking the siding boards together, it should never come apart over again.

Your siding will yet exist loose, but it shouldn't come apart again thanks to the caulking and the crimps property everything together.

Screw up from the bottom of the siding.

We don't often utilize this technique to hold siding together, just it will nevertheless work. Take a ane/2 or 3/4 inch long screw, discover a drain hole on the bottom of the vinyl siding lath and drill a screw up from the bottom.  This locks the loose board into the board beneath it. I would screw every two feet to hold it together. You lot should be able to get colour lucifer screws from Amazon, or your local hardware store that matches your siding colour, so it won't exist very noticeable to whatever onlookers.

For added security, y'all could add together caulking to the track before joining the two boards together with the screws.

Only caulk it.

This method is our least favorite, as we feel that it is just not secure enough.  However, information technology volition work. Simple drib dabs of caulking into the bottom track of the loose lath.  I would dab caulking every 6-viii inches along the loose board. Being careful not to put too much in, our when y'all click the boards back together, y'all could go clasp out.  If y'all do get caulking squeeze out on the front end confront of your vinyl siding, just wipe it off with a little flake of mineral spirits.

And with that,  hopefully these three unproblematic fixes will stop that loose piece of  siding from flapping in the wind & from keeping you upwardly all night.
